DJ Carl ParkerSo, when did it all begin? Carl was trying to play the piano before he could walk. He was fortunate to then start lessons at six. This was to set the path for his musical obsession. Carl’s parents bought him his first synthesizer at fourteen and soon Carl was sequencing music on his Atari 1040 computer. His influence at that time was Adamski and Carl was largely blown away by Adamski’s ‘Live and Direct’ sets which helped House Music explode into the 90’s. |

Studies took Carl through Music A’ Level and into Popular Music and Recording at Salford University (1993). It was here where Carl experienced first hand the boom of House Music, taking part in ‘Madchesters’ vibrant clubbing scene. Clubs including The Hacienda and The Paradise Factory were regularly frequented. By this time Carl had built up a small studio and was then introduced to the art of DJing by his good friend Barry Holmes. Barry taught Carl the concept of mixing two records together and Carl was totally hooked from there on in!
Monthly mix tapes became a platform for Carl to showcase his mixing skills. Stu Allan was his major influence with Carl never missing a Sunday night Key 103 show. Luckily, Carl’s first tape generated interest from Life@Bowlers in Manchester. This, at the time was the biggest weekly ‘Rave’ in the country (hosting 4500 people). Fortunately, they invited Carl to play firstly as a guest DJ and then as a resident DJ. Carl regards Bowlers as an institution and is honoured to have played alongside so many great DJ’s such as DJ Absolute, Stu Allan, Welly, Nipper, Rick Jones etc. From this point, Carl played many other nightclubs also. To name some: Vibealite, GoodTimes, ZubClub (Liverpool), The Astoria (Southport), 51st State and The Cricketer in Wigan. 2001 presented Carl with the opportunity to become a nightly resident DJ at Napa Dreams in Ayia Napa (thanks to good friend DJ Rossi).
On the production side, Carl by now had already released his first track entitled ‘Old Fever’ by Mike E. From there on, Carl released over twenty ‘Bouncy House’ tracks as CAP on various record labels (Unlicensed Recordings, Nitrate Recordings and Top Hat Recordings where some). Carl also remixed Sol ‘Tell It To My Heart’ and it was his remix that got showcased in live PA’s across the North of England (at 051, Wigan Pier, Maximes and Tokyo Joes etc).
As the music scene has progressed, Carl’s journey has taken him into Electro House. This is where Carl’s current passion lies. Influences are largely Armand Van Helden, Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto and David Guetta. Carl’s latest project – a remix package of Earth Wind and Fire ‘Boogie Wonderland’ is on the verge of completion…. So watch this space!
