DJ C Smooth Profile

C Smooth first got the bug for dance music back in the early 80's when he started listening to the soul & funk pioneers on the radio including: Robbie Vincent & Greg Edwards, this gave him a solid grounding in soulful, uplifting but pumping dance music.

Years later when the dance music movement was growing he was a keen listener to the early pirate radio station LWR with Froggy pioneer disco Master mixer, Tim Westwood UK early Electro & Hip Hop pioneer & became a very firm listener to London House Pioneer Jazzy M, also on LWR.

This was his first introduction to House Music.  Kiss FM was also highly influential.  He listened to Norman Jay, Paul Trouble Anderson, Steve Jervier, Trevor Madhatter, Tee Harris, Bobby & Steve, & many more.

About this time he started becoming an avid record collector & after spending very many hours in London's Record Stores he built up contacts with DJs and was invited over to lean how to mix.  After a couple of months he had perfected his technique & hot his first break as a resident DJ at London's Wag Club in Soho.   The night was run by Fat Tony. Boy George's then boyfriend.  It was a great experience & introduction into London's very colourful nightlife.   Other gigs soon followed including playing at the London Astoria, Busbys London,  Fantazia, Rezerection, Dreamscape, Pandemonium, Glass Club, Ministry of Sound. Club UK etc.

A chance meeting in a record store led to C Smooth getting his first break as a radio DJ on Cult London pirate radio station Girls FM.   C Smooth hosted his own show on Girls FM & amongst the guests who appeared were Marshall Jefferson,  Master C&J (both from Chicago USA), Matt Jam Lamont & Karl tuff enuff Brown.

C Smooth also plays as a guest on Ministry of Sound Radio London.  After being invited into the studio many times C Smooth finally accepted the invitation & realised producing records is the next step.  C Smooth releases on Cult UK Techhouse label Rotation Recordings under the Project name Subway.
