This where the inspiration came from for DJ energy.  He was amazed at how one person, ie the DJ, could control and manipulate the crowds atmosphere with sounds.  The mixing of tracks, the atmosphere generated at the party, and the whole vibe intrigued him and Energy realised that he badly wanted to be part of this new crowd and generation.  After the Perception event he set about his task of establishing himself as a DJ.  He saved his money to attain the essential ingredients to help him with this mission impossible.  The Technics and mix ere now in place and the record box containing the latest tunes gave him the chance to practice to the level of other top DJs working within the scene.  After six months of hard work and commitment he felt confident and ready to play to a packed out venue.  Without further ado DJ Energy found himself playing out once a month at an event at Stafford University where he performed alongside DJ SS & DJ Mongoose, he recalls how nervous he was playing out alongside two such established names, but he also acknowledges the fact that was now or never for him back then and this resulted in him playing his heart out.   He went down very well with the crowd and the promoters and became the resident at all these nights.  Shortly after this successful start to his career he began to send demo tape of his DJing ability to promoters  in and around the Midlands such as Quest, who were at the time the Midlands Number one promotional outfit running every week from the heart of Wolverhampton's City Centre.  He DJed at Quest once every three weeks thus building his name in the Midland, incidentally the name Energy came about after his friends thought he was far too hyper for his age.

After Quest fame Pandemonium, another Midlands promoter booked him also to play at the legendary Mr B's in Willenhail, Wolverhampton. His name was now rapidly becoming known across the whole of Central England and at this point he wanted the big one, the event was to be Fantazia, monsters of rave, at the Donington Race Park.   This festival of dance was the main event of the raving calendar and the Summer of 1992 will always be remember by Energy, after all this is quite understandable because this is where he showcased his skills to a massive audience of 27,000 party maniacs.

"I could not believe it when Nick Sellars from Fantazia told me I could play from ten 'til eleven at their party/  I couldn't come to terms with the fact that I was going to by DJing at Donington Park in front of twenty seven thousand people.  I knew this was it so I gave it my all, my set went down very well,  I thought,  I never got any complaints, just gratitude.  I will always remember Fantazia at Donington for as long as I live.  It was an historic event as far as the scene is concerned  and for me personally."

The pattern began again. Climbing further and further up the ladder of the DJing fraternity.  Every event he played at he got more spin-off work then shortly after Fantazia's massive party, they launched Club Fantazia at Telford where he became a member of the rotational Fantazia DJ team, his dream was coming true.  He wanted so much to be a well respected DJ but he never imagines he would get as far as he did.  This was only the beginning....

In 1994 the musical spectrum we all knew as one was no more.  New sounds began to emerge and every DJ and producer progressed to other forms and styles of dance music.  "I love Drum n Bass and I used to play it all the time but when Hardcore began to go it's own way I still purchased the records even though I DJed to Drum n Bass but the uplifting tunes of Happy Hardcore was just too good to resist and I began to buy just as much Happy vinyl as Drum n Bass and also the Happy Hardcore parties man... you just can't beat the atmosphere! O got into the Happy Hardcore scene at the right time, I feel, because it was well before all the trouble kicked off in the Midlands area.   I don't wasn't people to think I changed to Happy Hardcore because of the trouble in the Jungle scene as I did not.   I progressed at the right time and found the sound that I loved and believed in that's why I moved to DJing on the Happy tip.  However Happy Hardcore is what I want to be known for but I don't forget where I came from, so if any promoter asked me to do a Drum n Bass slot, I would within reasons but first and foremost it has to be Happy Hardcore because that is the future as far as concerned".

Many of you readers will be confused as most of you will have heard of the other DJ Energy.  That's right there are two DJ Energy's.   The other one is from London and started in 1994 way later and cashed in on the name already established to get bookings.
