DJ Lisa Unique - Profile 2006
Lisa Unique began her career opening for the likes of Fantazia back in ‘97’after a friend loaned her a set of decks from the sound systems that he hired out. But even before this little did the trained trained violinist who always had one eye on the house scene collecting old skool vinyl know that, her music skills with the violin, coupled with her ability to read music, and her heightened sense of timing and beat-matching would prove to be such an influential part of her future career . Lisa soon founded London’s Most Wanted the first all girl Garage group which was an important building block, kick-starting Lisa’s solo career with regular slots at Twice As Nice, Ministry of Sound, Freedom & Peach to name but a few, during a period that the UK’s own garage sound was sweeping the nation. From there Lisa went on to produce her own tracks, gaining recognition from the likes of Seb Fontaine, Tall Paul and Jeremy Healey with the boundary-breaking house-driven garage track ‘Unique’, put out on Sony’s INCredible Label. ‘Unique’ was well received by garage and house fans across the country and in the US and Japan. Alongside her production Lisa gained acclaim for her remixes of the likes of Aaliyah’s ‘Try Again’ and Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg’s ‘The Next Episode’. DISCOGRAPHY
Lisa Unique has enjoyed a wide and varied career in music achieving many accolades including Glastonbury 2000 when she headlined for Twice As Nice in the dance tent alongside the likes of Wookie. But it wasn’t until the Winter Miami Music Conference of 2001 that Lisa Unique stamped her indelible mark on the music industry by helping to set the scene for the urban explosion that went to become an integral part of today’s mainstream. As Garage began its retreat back to its underground roots in the UK, Lisa has continued to stay at the forefront of the music scene by developing her own style of house music which saw her headlining at International Venues in Russia, Beirut, Shanghai, America, India, Norway, Greece, Estonia, America, Ibiza, Holland and Cyprus. Lisa is no stranger to the headlines as her previous career in modelling insured she was constantly in the media. This support has continued through out Lisa’s meteoric progress within the music scene during the past 7 years in publications such as Loaded, Maxim, The Sun, The Daily Star, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, Time Out, Deuce, Mixmag, Muzik, 7 and more. Lisa is currently in the studio working on her own tracks after a break of 2 years……………………
