The name Ranski came from his days as a graffiti artist when he was around 14 and was just a made up name. Someone called him 'Ski' and he added 'Ran' before it and so Ranski came about. His involvement in the rave scene began when aged 15 Ranski hung around outside a club called Hudson Bay (later the better known dance venue Coast to Coast). He heard the music and went in to see Lenni & Bassman and other MC's doing there stuff. After a couple of years of sneaking in he asked Lenni for the mic and confidently gave it ago. He never looked back from that point. Ranski's first professional booking was at Wobble working for the Robinson brothers. He enjoyed the rush of the experience taking control of the crowd telling them what to do and getting a great response. From here Ranski followed up with an appearance at the bigger Pandemonium events. The promoters Archer and Dawkes came into Pure Records where Ranski was working one week and he buggthem for a booking and they eventually caved in. They liked what they heard and he became the resident after a while. His best memories of the large Pandemonium events include the ones at Telford Ice rink, he still has the tapes and videos from those events they were the good times as everything was on a bigger scale. The events then were not as polished as today's which are better organised. But he feels that perhaps that is not always the most important thing. |
