DJ Ballistic Interview

Raindance & HelterSkelter will be making their debut in Scotland for Fantazia Allstars Valentines Ball in February, as will one of Raindance's MC's - MC Spenno!

Big thanks to Jordan for the interview that follows

What is your real name and where are you from?
Hi Everyone! My real name is Jordon Spencer, and I come from Hertfordshire!

Who inspired you to become an MC?
Probably the English based MC's of the mid to late nineties, such as Livelee, Sharkey, and Marley

How did you get into the scene? How did you get your break?
I was really lucky, my mate got booked at an Event called "Epidemik" and he couldn't do it. Grant, who ran the party, booked me instead. After this he put me in touch with Raindance, and Tasty. Have a lot to thank Grant for, that's for sure! Oh, wow! that rhymes!! lol!

Ever fancied doing the DJing side of it? Can you mix?
I can indeed! played out quite afew times, with more sets in the pipeline!

What do you think are your best qualities as an MC?
As I've got older (I'm 27 now) I've learned when to speak, and when to shut up! I would say crowd hyping was my strongest part of my game.

Are you a lyricist or a crowd hyper?
As i just mentioned, these days, it's a "less is more approach" just to try and be that little bit different to everyone else.

Who’s your fav Dj to MC to? And is there anyone you’d like to MC for who you haven't yet?
Billy Bunter is my fav, always has been. We work together on upfront sets quite a lot! I've been extremely lucky, because I have managed to MC for every top flight Hardcore DJ. Did quite a lot with Dougal as well last year, was was good fun, as he just a legend!!!!!!!

What has been your best MCing experience to date?
Seeing nearly 3000 polish ravers singing "You're shining" in Lodz, Southern Poland in October 2004. That moment will stay with me forever!

Dj's s you rate?
Any one who can read the crowd, and give the ravers what they want!

Dj's you hate?
Slipmatt, as he always promises to bring me back duty free fags, and fails every single week, when he is in Europe, every week, during the summer! haha! Only joking Slippers!

Other MC's you rate?
Anyone who doesn't think they are bigger than the DJ or music.

Funniest or most embarrassing thing that ever happened at an event?
Touch wood, never had any embarrassing moments....... Yet!!! There's been so many funny moments, it's hard to choose one! Some things are better left un mentioned put it that way!!!!!!!

Fav promoter?
Don't want to mention one in case some one else sees this, and doesn't book me anymore lol!

Fav tune?
Ever??!!! man, that's hard! it changes every time i think bout it! ok........ From back in the day "In Complete Darkness" And from upfront hardcore....... "Get Away" Gammer Remix

Worst tune ever?
Erm, Sorry Vibesy if you're reading, but hated that "Hey Jude" Rip from the late nineties!!!!

What do you do when you’re not MCing? What do you do to chill out away from the music?
I still work full time, so don't get that much time out to be honest! Spending time with my girlfriend is always top of the priority list, when not busy!

Describe yourself in 5 words?
Loyal, trustworthy, Content, Ambitious, focused

What have you been up to recently?
It's been non stop for me recently. Had gigs everywhere, from Haverford West in Wales, to Penzance in Cornwall, to Peterborough in the East. I love it! music all the way! Going back in the studio soon too!

You're going to be playing the Raindance vs Helter-skelter arena @ Braehead arena, Glasgow next month. Have you played in Scotland before? Are you looking forward to it?
First time in Scotland for me! Looking forward to it! it's great to be booked for a raving institution such as "Fantazia" Thanks for the opportunity to Play in Glasgow!!!!!!!!!!

Anything else you want to say? Any shouts?
Just the norm, each and every DJ, MC, Producer, Promoter, flyering bods, lighting and sound crew who are involved in Hardcore! Kayleigh, I Love you so much!!! Dan, for being a legend, and helping me every step of the way, and my friends, and family thank you for your support over the last 9 years!
