DJ Danny Rampling

London-born, DJ Danny Rampling's love for music began at an early age. Growing up listening to the pop icons of the 70's, his record collection developed rapidly and is reflected in the variety of music that he plays to this day.

Danny's first sojourn into DJing came when he found himself spinning alongside Kiss FM founder and present Managing Director Gordon Mac, where Danny discovered there was a niche for his personal style, a weekly show on the pirate station Kiss followed.

Inspired, Danny ventured out to the great Ibizan clubs of the 80's where he discovered the intoxicating, Balearic sound of the sunny, Spanish island and brought it back to the UK.

Danny Rampling and his soon-to-be-wife Jenni launched the 'Shoom' club in 1987 and introduced this innovative feel to a new generation of clubbers. Taking their inspiration from 'Shoom', fellow club-runners soon followed suit and successful clubs were appearing all over the UK.

Danny, who joined Radio 1 in November 1994 from Kiss FM, is hailed as one of the world's hottest dance DJs but is humble of his achievements and the respect he commands, "I just go out there and play good music and that's it. That's my job, to go out and give people a good time".
