Fantazia The Legend Returns - Your MemoriesA collection of peoples memories that have been posted on the forum. If you would like to do a full review or add something get in touch........ I`m really struggling here! It was the best night that I`ve had for nearly a decade, and trying to think of one specific moment is really hurting my brain! Impossible to choose one moment............the whole night was fantastic Errol Old Skool
NJOI's set...........ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! SLIPMAT'S set.........ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! RATPACK's set..........ABSOLUTELY OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Robbie.IE
Being up on stage looking over the whole crowd... amazing. Having a chat with Slipmatt after his set, such a regular bloke and him giving me his phone number. Actually hearing a Scotsman talk in Scotland James Keat
GOOD POINTS 1) Atmosphere 2) Variation in old skool 3) Friendly security 4) Excellent sound system/acoustics 5) No wait at bar or at token stand
SURPRISES 1) Sott Brown set being 90% new style music 2) Ultra-Sonic not finishing their set with Eternity 3) Crowd booing when there was technical difficulties - give the techy team a break!
BAD POINTS 1) Drink prices - absolutely shocking!!! Old Skool Richy
I can safely say that I had a fuckin wicked time, the energy in the main arena was something else - Scott Brown rocked the shit out of it. Ratpack played a blinder as did top buzz - not sure about the first 15 mins of it though. I also heard a shout out to Bex! - was trying to find the vip entrance to no avail - bit gutted I missed yaz all.. the noticable thing was the overwhelming police presence - sniffer dogs were on top to fuck! Was shitting myself - got through ok though he he - but one things for sure the Scots know how to fuckin party! Jedeye
Dream Frequency and Shades of Rhythem were a total disgrace. Technical difficulties my arse, he clearly didn’t know how to get the CD player off CUE mode! And DF doing a PA to other peoples tunes?! Amazing. On the flipside Ratpack, Slipmatt etc were quality, and the house room was surprisingly good. Gstoker1
Wicked night. The main arena rocked. Thanks for a superb evening. Hangercrew
I liked the venue as a whole for supporting events like this in the future it was well ventilated which is always great cos I hate poorly ventilated venues that make u sweat bucket loads within a hour of bouncing ..plus point there Fantazia.
I loved Marc Smith I was kinda surprised by what he played. Scott Brown he’s a legend no complaints. Bass X ..phenomenal luvved every bit of their set. Shades of Rhythm 1st class really brought home the memories not forgetting the technical difficulties and yes I was one of em booing, and y not I paid to bounce to tunes not to listen to sound fuck ups I took it all in my stride it was more of a comedy boo I have to say. Q-tex I feel let me down a bit I have to say they played at least 2 tunes that weren’t to my taste but who cares huh its Q-tex ffs, I luv em to bits anyhow.
N-joi was a bit special for me cos I only have fuzzy memories of seeing them years and years ago but now I got those nice memories of em playing a great set. The Rhymic State was totally awesome a real privilege to have seen em, they just went up even higher in my books...amazing.
Now I have one last whinge to get off my chest "The Ratpack" I bleeding hate em with a vengeance now I forgot my blindfold and earplugs and lost my scrabble board in there and got subjected to the most awful noise of Mr lippy I call him just shouting oi oi every 2 secs i was so tempted to jump up on stage and stick that mic right up his.....they suck big time. I know most of u English guys n gals luv em but nah I gave em a 2nd listen after I seen em at the original Big Bang but nah they sucked more last night, and just to prove my point when they came on at least half of the arena emptied quick style they were on far too late bringing everyone down more than what they were they belong at the start of the night or the very last not right in the prime time slots when peeps are mostly peeking put me on a right downer that did. Bloody amazing night none the less, LONG LIVE FANTAZIA! Hashmonster
WHAT A NIGHT!!!!!!! It will never be as good as it was back in the day, but last night was a absolutely brilliant substitute!!!
when I got there, there were no queues and I first thought WOW, what's all this about sniffer dogs? then I walked on about 20 yards and WOW turned to F**K!!!! Was at the start of the little line as well so I had to deal with actually speaking to the copper as well (not easy when you're trying not to look guilty!!!!)
So into the main arena it was and I have to say I thought it would be busier, but I guess it was still early at this point. Would love to go into great detail about each and every DJ and PA but being honest I can't actually remember, but highlights were N-JOI (unbelievable!!!) Top Buzz (after a very dodgy start) Slipmatt, the Ratpack and TRS who were great but I was too f**ked to do anything!!! Thank you Fantazia for a totally brilliant evening Dawsoncreeks
1 word AMAZING Raverbabi
Me like many others where shitting themselves going into the line up for the dog, I had everyone party essentials, the dog passed me and pulled my mate who had been smoking a jakey. Got in and atmosphere was great we came from Newcastle and the Scots were fine with us, thought after 12 years of passing it may be different, but Scottish ravers are the best. Have to say everything else was tops and well worth the 300 mile trip. Phil G
Loved it
Was a really awesome night, I didn't bump into too many people off the forum though, met cazza, and Chris - he took some pics of us in the VIP area Thx for the whistles and the sweeties in the VIP Packs Fantazia! :P Did anyone try the laughing gas? I almost fainted lol, so light headed!
Was real impressed with the whole thing tbh, the only down side was that the entrance isn't clearly marked - we just jumped out our taxi and followed the crowds of people for about 20mins. The ride outside was really refreshing And it wasn't even too cold outside either.
Did any of the guys see the dude in the mens toilet (one beside VIP area) with his arse in the sink, tap running over his arse getting him wet, drooling, holding the door open? Think he sat there for about 2 hrs lol.. Ashante
I thought the night was spot on! (the best event I've been to in the last few years anyway)....when the music was banging I was bouncing when it wasn't I chilled...walked around and chatted. I had high expectations but it was never going to be as good as the first Big Bang (the only other Fantazia event I was at) and probably wasn't going to be as good as their other events down south...but I still had a fucking amazing night!!! and think Fantazia deserve a bit of respect for putting the night on in the first place! Dunno about you guys but I'll be at the next one! Mondo
Being honest I couldn’t give a crap about most of the old skool. Bass-X yeah they were quality but the event was never promoted as 100% oldskool so it was no surprise to me when Hyperbass played some new stuff or Scott Brown played some gabber. Made my night. Stufos
Speaking from a different area.............(Northern Ireland)......we have alot of problems with this kind of argument as well........' When people r describing old skool over here.....its even harder 2 distinguish which type of style they actually mean.......as we've always had a complete mixture of English/Scottish/Dutch and our own type of vibe as well
I personally have always mainly been a fan of the harder, Scottish bouncin techno style...and I can honestly say if I woz goin 2 see my dream lineup, it would consist of this style, but ..we all read the flyer..........we all knew it woz fantazia (English organisation) we all read the lineup....and we still all purchased the tickets coz we knew it would b a decent event.....so I think we all knew wot 2 expect.....a complete mixture of different styles. And I have 2 say that I think that they got the mixture almost right.......Slipmat woz superb, as woz Bass X, The Rythmic State, Scott Brown, and a few others Shy Witness
The view from the arena seats was amazing, think the Braeheads a cracking venue Jamhay
I thought it was shit hot heaps of nutters goin 4 it shame about the sniffer dogs. Next time they should have a 12 hour rave wi no sniffer dogs. Hope its not 13 years til the enxt 1. David
Who really gives a shit whether the night was old skool, nu skool, gabba fuckin Dutch core, whatever................all in all it was a fuckin fantastic night and with the look of every raver in there, they enjoyed it too! Scott
Just like to say, I totally love Fantazia's approach, attitude & style of management as a promoter. It’s a breath of fresh air to get a group of people that are so open, honest and forth coming with any news or info they may have to share. From Charlie (on the forum) answering questions on previous events and experience, Steve asking us for opinions on how the Fantazia DVD should be compiled, not laying down the law of the land every two secs and generally trying to respond to questions as open, honestly & quickly as they can, is fantastic to see! Jamhay
Fantazia will have a cult following if they carry on like this, all promoters should take a leaf out of Fantazia’s book Dreamcee
I'd just like to thank Fantazia for giving me the opportunity to play at 1 of their events. It really was a dream come true for me, and I guess all the events I've played for, and the hard work and dedication to what I truely love has finally paid off!!! I'd also like to say that I'm sorry the other DJs that put their names forward didn't get to play... I only found out that I was to do a set at 6pm on the night!!! Thanks also to everyone from Saturday night... you Scots really know how to party!!! Tunxy
I spent a lot of time in arena 2, but I was sat at the back in front of the heater, definitely blew me away, brilliant what a heat Interterm
Personally for me every DJ & MC in arena 2 played blinders! I wasn’t into George Bowie TBH in fact he would have been more suited to the third arena! The arena was busy right up until George came on! The doctors new skool set was class & the man Bassy G !!! Midge
Highlight of the nite in room 2 was The Doctor for me. Didn't hear any of Madmans set (Sorry Al), but knowing him it would have been a blinder. Korrupt
Well we travelled all the way from Leeds (12am) I was hammered before we got there (8pm)-- thought the sniffer dogs were funny also the Mr Plod that asked if I was "corpus mentis" like yeah right of course I was !!
So the drinks were a bit steep, excepted that ?? Then I lost track of a friend?? Walked in to an arena and some one shouted "London’s original old skoool no1" and it all gets a bit hazy after there it was mental I did not stop moving until 4am but what I do remember was the atmosphere and all the friendly face's that made it for me !! finally hooked up with friend on the way out too funny....
Now we had three hours to kill found some dodgy cafe near queen street station. Finally got on the train (more than a bit worse for ware at 8:30), arrived home 1:30pm. Thanks for the memories once again, all you people kept the vibe alive !!! FANTAZIA BRAEHAED--WAS MINTED ....NEXT ONE PLEASE Pheonix
All in all a though that this was a Top Class Quality night, a wouldn’t have missed it for all the tea in China. Waited so long for this night and it went by so fast!
I have never been to any previous Fantazia so a cannot comment on what it was like back in the day!! What a can say is that there are so many different styles of music that could be classed as Old Skool, what the older Ravers among us bounced about to and now what kind of stuff the younger generation would! By the reaction from the crowd on Sat it was blatantly obvious that they were having a ball.
The only time I seen the place emptying was when the Ratpack came on, which was understandable cause they were dire!!! Top Buzz were shit as well and I will be glad if I don’t have to listen to the ever again! This almost spoiled my night!! After this the rest of my night was amazing!!
Scott Brown, Marc Smith, Q Tex, Bass X, Ultra Sonic, Rythmic State, etc, etc!! They were all "Fookin Amazin"!!! I cant wait until another event like this is on a will defo not miss it! The only other thing I will say is that the Funfair/Circus what happened there?? No bar inside the Main Arena?? Baws!!! Laura22
Was pleasantly surprise at the lack of trouble after hearing reports of NEDs ruining Coloursfest/BTTF @ New Year. The whole crowd were up for it only the odd growler around. Once again the Scottish Crowd lives up to its superb reputation. big up yourself everyone for making it a great night. Hangercrew |
