Fantazia Club Tour - Review - 1992 The old cinema in Telford was one of the better venues for a rave, it was a sort of rectangle shape with a high ceiling, the name would suggest it used to be an old cinema!! But it looked a bit like an old church.
Being an all-nighter it was a great place to end up after another rave which ended at 2am…being greedy for the buzz and the tunes we always tried to end up somewhere else….the eclipse in Coventry was also ideal place for the buzz hunters!! I remember one night we had been to Pandemonium and was due to flyer Fantazia’s opening night at the old cinema, it was me, the missus, Peaker and Deano, the missus was a nimbler…come on you all have dirty minds…she used to nimble her pills, bit like a fucking gerbil, god knows why as you probably are aware they taste like shit. Anyway we were heading over to Telford from Brum, Peaker was driving which was always a bit dodgy as you can understand from his name, he loved the buzz, the more the better, he would be peaking all night, he was a pill machine, his driving abilities were how can I say shit!!
As we approached the venue, Peaker was trying his best to get his pills out of the stash down by the accelerator, now a word of warning and canned driver reaching down by the accelerator not looking where he is going is a recipe for disaster, it was only down Deano’s quick reactions that he grabbed the wheel and avoided some traffic lights…..we eventually made it to the venue around 4am.
After a bit of blag and nimbler fluttering her eye lashes at the security boys they let us in for the last couple of hrs. I liked this venue just the layout and the atmosphere it had a real old style warehouse rave feeling about it. I liked this venue that much we ended up there again a few weeks later on New Years Eve as Quest/Pandemonium held a party there which was quality rammed to the rafters. Top buzz and Mickey Finn doing the business, what was it Mad P used to say "Top Buzz got the house in order, jungle techno what the people really after" and he was right.
Anyway back to the night the usual top notch show had been put on by Fantazia, I don’t think I ever went to a shit Fantazia party. Quality lighting and the sound rig did the job, I think Pilgrim was playing when we arrived, him being Peakers favourite DJ from quest he was straight on the dance floor with his unique dancing style, but as mc Ribbs used to say ”just dance how you want to” it was all about the buzz, the people, the atmosphere, feeling like you were part of something, no one cared how you danced, what you looked like, what you were wearing, the whole scene in them days will never be forgotten by the people that made it what it was, the punters….shit sorry going off on one then…. The 2 hrs soon passed and it was off to get the flyers from the car, nimbler has just been really brave and had a half a pill, she soon regretted it when she went on a whitey outside the venue while handing out the flyers but one-one cares we had all been there!
