Fantazia New Year 1991 - Review 3

New Years Eve had arrived – so had my mates pen friend from France – boy was he in for a night to remember – he had never heard of raving and certainly didn’t partake in any recreation fun. We all bundled in the car and set off from near Bournemouth. We left at stupid o clock and still managed to get lost on way. I think it was the state we were all in…

We got there in one piece; everyone had their ticket – phew. Waltzed straight passed security another phew. And we opened the doors to what seemed like another world sounded good, looked good and certainly smelt good. After wondering around for a while, the night got going and was a blur for most of it – jumping around the room, meeting many nice people. I only have vague recollections of the night.
I do remember seeing one of my mates with a massive pot of Vicks which he was smearing across his forehead like it was going out of fashion. He looked a right state.

At New year is when I first came up too – there was count down and then bang one walked a bag piper whole blew the roof off – I have never heard old Langs Lyne through 90k. My head went into space and I was off again. I have no memory of the PA, changing of DJs.

Then my body stopped functioning – legs gave up, arms died – this was the first time I sat down. But who starts their set at that point – Top Buzz. That was it – some one handed me a present and I was off again.

I do have visions standing next to some very strange people who weren’t ravers trying to look inconspicuous – you can always tell the undercover cops!!!!!

A group of girlies all in tight little black numbers who I spent new year with. My mate with Vicks encrusted on his head – looked like a big blister.

Well you kicked us out and daylight burnt! So we headed back to the car which took us ages cos we couldn’t remember where we parked. Then it was of home, tooting to all other ravers who came our way. We made a slight detour and headed to Oscars at Longleat from come down arty but weren’t up to much so headed home.

So then came the rush to get the tapes as and where you could just to remember what went on. Only to see that second sight was coming I still get goose pimples now listening to it. I must say Ratty / Easygroove and Top Buzz were sets to remember and still get blasted out today.
