Fantazia Second Sight - Review 3 After listening to a top buzz tape from Fantazia NYE 1991 we new that we had to go the next Fantazia...........
I’m not sure were we got the flyer from but we got one, the DJ line up looked awesome as did the live PA’s and the various other attractions.
We phoned the number on the flyer to get our tickets, the guy was called Richard, he was the South Coast ticket agent. I can’t remember going to get the tickets but my brother informed me that we drove down to the guy’s house one Saturday night on our way to Sterns. So we had the tickets all we needed now was some transport.
After a lot of phoning around and a lot of let downs we managed to hire ourselves a mini bus from Sue Ryder’s. It all had to be done in my brothers’ name as he was older than the rest of us and we couldn’t get insurance to drive the thing. On the day Paul drove up to ours to pick my brother up so they could go and get the mini bus, when they got back you couldn’t miss them as it was bright yellow. By this time everyone else had arrived and we were all on a bit of a high to say the least, we loaded the van with drinks and munchies etc for the journey and that was that we were all set for the off. We had put a load of flyers on to the inside of the windows along with some smiley faces just so people would know where we were off to. Everyone was buzzin’ on the long drive down to Exeter (about 180 miles) probably the most worthwhile journey I’ve made. We all talking about what it’s going to be like and what DJ they wanted to here, some of us were busy rolling joints. As we got nearer it wasn’t long before some other cars were flashing their lights and tooting their horns and holding up flyers at their windows..........we couldn’t wait.
We arrived early but there was already a queue so we walked down and joined the end of it, they all looked happy dare I say a few pills had been popped. The people in front of us had come down from Birmingham I did my first pill while queuing and it wasn’t long before I could feel the rushes building up inside my stomach along side the butterflies.
We were in, and I was proper rushing by now, it seemed very empty at first and loud but it didn’t take long before it started filling up, everyone was really getting in to it. We all sort off split up and went our separate ways randomly meeting up at various points throughout the night, most of us were totally off our heads (the pills back then were just so good). A lot of the night is a bit of blur, I remember the robots and dancers and listening to two of the PA’s. Rozalla was out of this world the atmosphere was like nothing I’d ever experienced, indescribable. My brother tells me that I came away with a record from one of the PA’s but I can’t remember.
I also remember everyone being very happy and friendly...... How did it go? "hello mate, where you from, what’s your name and what you on", you would get the same questions back and then move on.
Went outside for a bit of a chill out and a cool down a couple of times I remember it feeling a bit strange going outside after being inside where it was very loud, out in to not silence but an eerie quietness.
Something funny I do remember, someone had a bottle of poppers and it got passed round so we all had a go, my mate had a real good go of it and next thing we knew he was on the floor (sort of passed out) but still raving hands all over the place. He said he couldn’t understand why we were all crowding round him.
I do remember the end well not wanting it to end anyway it was all over too soon. Up till then that had been the best night of my life the night that beat it was of course Summertime.
A big shout to all the Fantazia Crew & the DJ’s who made the night what it was. Also to all the Hardcore Ravers that danced the night away........................ by TJ |
