Fantazia - Into the Wonderland - 30/09/06 - Review 5

My Journey Into The Wonderland...

Well now that the head is sort of straight again, thought I would take a few minutes to give you the run down on my Journey into the Wonderland…

After 8 months of excitement and waiting from the January event, Saturday 30th September finally arrived. Have to admit for the whole week leading up to it I was like a kid waiting for Christmas. Saturday afternoon about 5ish myself and ma mate Jim jump in the car, fire on the tunes and leave Girvan for the Braehead. On the way we stop in at Ayr to pick up my other mate, also Jim when disaster strikes. The tape player in the car goes tits up and now the realisation we have the rest of the journey to Braehead without any decent hardcore tunes to listen to. We settle for the radio which is a bit mellow but thankfully its only another 45 mins drive and we are there.

A quick stop off prior to Braehead to consume the party prescriptions and its on to Braehead. We parked up the car and walk round to the entrance quite surprised to see a large q. The crowd was defo up for it jumping around chanting here we, here we, here we fuckin go!!!!! Gibbering away like monkeys. Anyhows after about 25 mins and quick sniff from the dogs (Do they actually work as sniffer dogs ???)we make it in, grab some tokens, head to the bar to stock up and then in to the main arena.

Sadly just too late to catch Digital commandos which I'm pretty gutted about. Maybe next time guys, hopefully they could do a later set if they are back at future events. Never mind anyhow the place is startin to hot up. Think Slipmatt was pumping out some quality old skool tunes….or was Madman on before him. Both were shit hot but things started going in to a slight state of confusion by then. Then followed Dream Frequency, what can I say but superb again guys. The place to me erupted when they came on and really kick started the night. Already it was apparent this was gonna be a lot busier and better than the last event. Then followed Ellis D. Hadn’t heard him live before but fuck was I impressed. Infact I was that impressed I couldn’t drag myself from the floor to make the forum meet up. Doh !!!! Sorry guys hopefully next time…..

Headed across to the HTID arena for the end of Easygroove who was also awesome. He was followed by an unexpected set by Obssesion and then Hixxy which I have to say was absolutely bangin!!! The HTID arena was bouncing from end to end. It was fecking hot in there too. Due to that fact we left halfway through Hixxy to get some air and seen the arena doors dismantle themselves whilst chillin, oops...

Back in the main arena for the majority of the night and every Performance rocked . Don’t think I could grumble about any sets/pa’s for the entire night. Big up Mallorca (US ain't the same without ya!), Ramirez, Bassy G, Scott Brown, Dye Witness and Neophyte. Missed Smurf due to a major gouchy session from one of the boys but caught a bit from outside the HTID arena. (Downloaded the set though Superb, quite mellow from the smurfy sets I remember from JD, Nosebleed, hopefully next time I will catch him). I was well chuffed the old legs managed to hold out for a gabba stomp to Neophyte. Half way through Paul Elstak the guys decided they were shattered and wanted to head so made for the carpark and headed back down the road.

All I can say is what an amazing night. It went in too quick IMO, but then that’s always the sign of a good night. Everyone I spoke too was spot on. That old skool vibe was most defo in the place. Whats your name, where u from, Safe as fuck !!!!! The amount of white gloves, white overalls and yellow/orange waistcoats brought an instant smile to my face. I might even be brave enough to wear my old ones next time.

Big up the Fantazia crew, hopefully meet more of u at the next 1. Big up the few forum members I did meet. Michael and Nocturnal Steve are 2 that I can remember. Much respect to Fantazia for such an awesome event. Think this was the best event I’ve been to since Rez bangin bunny show. Christ how many years ago was that 10 or so??? Hope I ain't bored you too much but what a night!!!!!
