Fibre Optic - Que Club 14/05/94 Review

No ordinary party - Experience the difference. This is a Fibre Optic slogan and believe me, until you have experienced one of Danny’s musical and visual extravaganzas, you wont have seen anything like them.

Value for money is certainly high on his list, and everything to please you is there: fire eaters, jugglers, body painters, men on big sticks (stilt walkers), robots, lights, lasers, big projection screens, smoke, in fact everything you would expect to get was there, which adds to the vibe, and Fibre Optic’s vibe is unique.

The Que Club had been given the Fibre Optic treatment and totally transformed with their own special décor which is made by the Fibre Optic Crew. Danny keeps it simple - but effective and always gives the impression of a happy "House". It’s hard not to smile and feel safe and happy in this House party, and everyone I saw, gave me the impression that they were certainly enjoying themselves.

Danny had placed a 60 foot inflatable octopus on the Que Club roof outside, with the tentacles draped down the front of the building, but it was so windy that a leg ripped and it deflated. Not to be outdone it was placed in the seating area at the back. People were all over it lying on it’s legs. Nice touch.

DJ’s played from the stage on the suspended decks facing the crowd, all faces could be seen, and all the ones I saw were smiling and on the same vibe, enjoying what the jocks on the night were playing for them. All the jocks played ruff sets and kept the crowd ‘on one’ all night and morning. MC’s on the night did a brill job too - full respects to the jocks and MC’s.

In the Alternative room a wide and varied selection of House was played; Old School, Techno, Hardcore, Breakbeat, Jungle and even a "Progressive Hard House set" which went down a treat, respect to the jocks and MC’s who performed in there on the night.

The sound in both rooms was good and clear. There was a good vibe, and it’s great that there are parties that still have and maintain that special buzz. You all know what I mean, friendly, happy people, talking, shaking hands and smiling, it makes us all feel good when we receive a smile, and everywhere I looked there were loads coming in and going out.

The attendance could have been better, about 1,000 turned up, but there was room to enjoy yourself. If you are still on the happy tip and haven’t yet been to one of these parties I can only say one thing: Fibre Optic not ordinary - but extraordinary!
