Vision - Rave Profile & ReviewsVision was founded by Chris Griffin after he left Perception and his other rave company Mythology failed. It held a few large raves before going bankrupt in 1994. Its history was dogged with troubles. |

The T2 Aircraft Hanger party was moved to the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes on the night of the event (a long drive away from declared venue in Swindon). Tickets sales apparently had been to poor to use the large outdoor venue and none of the advertised attractions were provided at the new venue. Refunds were not offered or given and many people including the new venue were not paid, when Chris disappeared in the middle of the night. Following the companies collapse Chris Griffin went on to work for Fantazia organising their Club Tour of Australia before returning to the UK again to found Devotion and then the massive Godskitchen.
Vision Popham Airfield Event Review
In spite of England's abysmal weather, 10,000 people seemed to think this was a party worth storming the gates for. With some police officers doing their utmost to turn people back onto a road that by 11.30om was jammed for seven miles by claiming that the rave had been cancelled, when you could easily hear the music for miles around, you could see that their crowd control was getting out of hand. I was one of these people eager for a good night out, and like most others was determined to find my way into that part somehow.
I had spent fifty minutes driving around the countryside to avoid the jam and the police checkpoints, when I was stopped just two minutes from the site by a crowd trying to open the metal gates to the airfield that had some huge chains wrapped around them. I parked the car and found my way in away from the crowds by creeping across the airfields and blending in with night to dodge the field patrol security. Meanwhile the gatecrashers were giving the police a health scare, forcing them to open the gates when they could see people were getting crushed against them. Once the chains were flung open by the stampeding crowd, the security team at the entrance to the site stood no chance of stopping them. That is how a party licensed for 20,000 was reputed to have house 38,000 people. It was one of those parties that should have been one of the best, in terms of numbers, atmosphere and entertainment, but the weather dampened things a bit. Just a bit mind. JF Review Popham 2 - HotdogmanHaving missed out on Summertime at Matchams when me & my two mates saw the flyer for this we knew this was the one to break our large rave cherries at & celebrate leaving school. Promising 20,000 people, a top line up, sets from Blade Runner & to top it of the Prodigy & SL2, we blagged money of parents & bought our tickets from Movement Records. deciding to get the train up we got of at Micheldever & followed the steady stream of people walking towards the site, getting more & more excited. queuing up the atmosphere was great with loads of banter between the different groups eager to get in. when they opened the gates everyone rushed forward jumping over the barriers, leaving a few people flat on there faces. queuing up again to be searched I got a bit nervous as i had 6 purple microdots taped to my boxers but got through no sweat & set of to explore the site. it was amazing, with a massive tent for the main arena which had loads of dance platforms, speakers ,light rigs & video screens. The second arena had a similar set-up just on a smaller scale & the house(?) tent was filled with inflatable's. There was also an open sided tent next to the main arena, a cinema tent & the usual collection of fairground rides & stalls. After having a bit of a stomp in each of the tents we went outside to take our supplies which would have been straight forward if I hadn't dropped them in the grass! picture now the 3 of us on our hands & knees picking around for them, which was when a security bloke came over & asked us if we were ok! got rid of him by saying I'd lost an ear ring & amazingly found all the microdots which were necked & of we went back into the main tent. Everything after that is a bit of a blur as those microdots were strong as fuck. I can't remember wot dj's played & am not even sure if the Prodigy played, although my mate said I was on the side of the stage when they were on? What I do remember is that the sound & lighting was great, with the lazes & screens keeping me hypnotized. the cinema tent was showing Cheech & Chong films when we looked in & the clouds of smoke wafting around from all the joints was appropriate not sure wot time it started raining but along with the influx of people who stormed the fences it started to get a bit cramped in the tents. at one point i remember my feet weren't touching the ground which was a bit scary. the whole site became flooded & when they had to shut down the music in one of the tents it was just chaos in the others with everyone trying to get out of the rain. the wind was also strong, nearly blowing the open sided tent up in the air. everyone was caked in mud making it look like Glastonbury with large swamps of mud surrounding the tents. all to soon it was over , leaving behind wot looked like a war zone. as me & my mates left through the mud someone handed me a silver blanket like marathon runners get , coz i was turning purple & shaking like mad. we trudged off to the train station which had been invaded by loads of muddy, wasted ravers. we jumped on the first train that came along much to the surprise of the other passengers as people sat everywhere, even in the luggage racks. the ticket collector took one look & decided not to bother the rest of the day was spent crashed out at a mates, trying to remember wot happened & how the fuck we were going to stop the ringing in our ears we all agreed wot an amazing night it had been & even though it got chaotic we loved it as it all added to the excitement, which we were now hooked on. The first of many crazy nights.
Any mistakes made I apologise for but the memory ain't wot it was.
