 Consequences' of this can be impaired judgement and casual sex. With great use the user becomes incapacitated, aggressive or unconscious all of which can lead to tragic events.
With its long established use alcohol is unlikely to ever be anything but widely available even though statistics and casualties from short term and long term abuse show that it is probably more dangerous that many of the currently banned class A drugs. Use by under 18's is heavily controlled in the UK and venues are licensed to serve alcohol. This permission can be with draw if laws are broken. Society pays a heavy price for its enjoyment of alcohol. Alcohol is prohibited under Muslim law and in some non Western Societies.
