After a long journey we arrived at Kings Cross at around 10.00pm, parked up and made our way to the entrance.

The queue was already trailing a long way back. Luckily we had guest list so this was not a problem and it was starting to look like the beginning of a good night. The searches weren’t too bad, and we were in before not too long.

On entering the Dream FM venue the first DJ was Uproar playing a stomping hardcore set. The ravers were loving it, jumping around with their tops off because of the unbelievable temperature which was noticeable straight away. This inspired me to get a drink from the licensed bar. Uproar’s set seemed to be getting off to a good start with four beat tunes which the ravers seemed to be really enjoying. MC Sniper played a part in the true raving atmosphere that was beginning to surface at the event.

The 11.00-12.00 set was played by Dream FM’s DJ Energy back to back with Tom Thumb and MC Suicide on the mic. This trio really stirred up some commotion on the dance floor although DJ Energy was a touch upset that he didn’t have enough time to play all his new tunes.

As this Happy set was stomping away in arena one. DJ Wise and Zoukie Banton were flooding arena two with a Jungle and Drum ‘n’ Bass set. This brings me on to mentioning the quality and volume of the sound system in the second arena which was booming, apart from the fact that the monitor speaker was not working which caused a few problems with some DJ’s but nothing too major, as DJ Wise soon proved with a set which appeared to satisfy all the Junglist’s.

Following Wise’s set in arena two DJ Randall took over. You needed to have been there to be able to understand the atmosphere when Randall was announced. The Junglist’s knew what they had coming and they were right as Randall’s set was brilliant. He was playing all his new wicked dub plates and impressing the crowd with rolling beats.

In arena one, Slammin’ Vinyl residents, Jimmy J and Vinyltrixter were touching down with some more Hardcore. By this time the ravers were well on their way to having a good night. The whistles and horns got louder and louder, leaving us no choice but to put the review aside for a while and participate in the stomping but brilliant atmosphere in the main arena. By this time the venue was filling with more and more ravers. The stage was packed with dancers of all types who seemed full of enthusiasm.

The Full Force Dance Crew (run by Mark and Phil – who also had a minor conflict with the security on entering the venue), arrived and performed a remarkable show on the stage. Even though it was hot this didn’t prevent the dancers from doing their stuff.

Following Jimmy J and Vinyltrixter in arena one was the DJ Influence with a selection of Drum & Bass and Hardcore consecutively which went down quite well with the crowd as this is not something that is tackled much and Influence handled it very well considering.

As the DJ was playing his tunes, MC Ruff added to the atmosphere with his wicked lyrics. The event was a sell out and it was absolutely packed, inside and out. I went for a walk outside to escape the heat for a while and it seemed that I was not the only one as it was rammed out there.

Whilst outside I got chatting to some Dream FM listeners who were saying that they were enjoying themselves and it was the best Dream FM event at the Bagley’s Warehouse that they had ever been to. Throughout the night a lot more ravers agreed with this statement. I was also told that there was no queue for the cloakroom which was surprising.

Downstairs the DJ’s were playing wicked sets of House and Garage with people dancing everywhere not to mention MC Lipton on the mic chatting his lyrics once again. The DJ’s were later joined by special guests Roy The Roach and Nancy Noise who both played brilliant versatile sets for the arena three massive.

After a while it was time for another drink. While I was at the bar a few more ravers approached me and commented on the brilliant night they were having.

Following Influence on the decks was the man who’s been dubbed the Godfather of Drum ‘n’ Bass, Grooverider. In the second arena Dougal started playing a wicked set of Happy Hardcore.

Unfortunately, due to the monitor speaker not working Dougal refused to continue after 15 minutes on the decks and Double D and Uproar took over. Unfortunately Double D also gave up after a few mixes as he couldn’t hear a thing and left Uproar to carry on on his own.

I don’t know whether it was due to the state of me by this time (it was getting to the early hours of the morning!) but I genuinely didn’t notice any difference in the quality of mixing coming from Uproar, an amazing Drum & Bass set with loads of scratching and the lyrics from MC Sniper made it, for me anyway, one of the best sets of the night.

The number one duo DJ Spinback and MC Ruff were next up in arena two (although they were supposed to be playing in arena one. Spinback played a selection of old school classics including ‘Sweet Harmony and Slammer’ for the first half hour and wicked happy hardcore classics for the second half of his set, again another wicked set.

While Spinback was playing in arena two, Slipmatt stepped up in the first arena with a set of Happy Hardcore and Bouncy 4 – Beat. The MC’s for this set were Magika and Stixman who did a fine job despite the lack of the sound technician who was nowhere to be seen from hundreds of requests went out to him to turn the mic up (where were you mate?).

The final set of the night was played by DJ Hype who, in my eyes can do no wrong. As always he responded to what the crowd wanted, mixing and blending both old and new Drum & Bass tracks. Once again joined by MC Fearless on the mic and the pair of them ended the night off perfectly. I’m sure I was not the only one who didn’t want to leave but despite the cries for “just one more!” by the crowds, the night had to end sometime.

The last hour presented a problem for us, would we go into arena 2 where the party animal DJ Vibes was playing, or stay in arena 1, where the DJ’s Sy and Unknown were, apparently arriving from North Wales in record time, thanks to RS Cosworth power. As it turned out we moved around in both arenas, which were still packed.

This was the last Slammin’ Vinyl and Dream FM event together at Bagley’s, with Dream returning to their legendary allnighter series, at the new massive 4,000 capacity Adrenalin Village in Chelsea with Slammin Vinyl returning to Bagleys soon.
