Dreamscape Murray Beetson Tributes

The legendary rave promoter, Murray Beetson, who has built Dreamscape up to gigantic proportions over the last few years, sadly died in a car crash on March 16th 1996. Famed for his insatiable partying, as well as his influential raves, his death has provoked an amazing response, and in a notoriously competitive industry, tributes have been flooding in to the office from ‘rival’ promoters, DJs and friends.

Our thanks, respect and best wishes go out to his friends and family, and congratulations to them for planning to carry on his good work in the future. Here are a few of the tributes:

"Murray was always recognised within the rave industry as an innovator. He not only organised regular events, but also ran a highly successful merchandise company, which won various awards throughout the years, mainly due to his ability of trying out new things and making them work. Murray can only be described as ‘The Godfather’ of the rave scene, he went through the good times and bad and always came out on top.

He set standards for others to follow and earned his title as the ‘Godfather’ by his never-ending commitment to the ravers and the rave scene. He has often been described as a ‘party animal’, which, if you didn’t know him, would sum up his personality - he had an excellent sense of humour and would always want to go out and party! Rest in Peace. Murray, my thoughts are with you, your family and your friends".
Terry Turbo (Turbo Promotions, One Nation, The Scene Magazine)

"The last time I spoke to Murray was only minutes before this tragic accident. He was then, as I am sure everyone else will remember him so full of laughter and life. I have many happy memories of him from the trip to Blackpool in ’95 to the ugly stripper he organised with John for my Birthday last May. The best memories, though, were the countless times he made me laugh flying outside events, no matter how cold it was. Murray will be sadly missed by us, our deepest sympathy6 goes out to Stacey, Max and all his family".
Chris Eruption (United Dance)

"The friendship that had built up between ourselves and Murray over the last few years was very rare in this highly competitive industry. This relationship, based on mutual trust and respect led to World Dance and ESP/Dreamscape planning a series of events around the country this year. Murray will be sadly missed by all of us and our thoughts go out to his close friends and relatives.....".
Chris Leonard (The World Dance Organisation)
