To be honest when I first saw the flyer for this event I wasn't that impressed with it, however on this occasion I was out voted by the mates, I'd have much rather travelled the further distance to attend the Vision event in Aberdeen the previous week, given the fact it looked like a better line up of hardcore DJ's and was almost half the 30 quid ticket fee, however despite this was still going to have a great night at this event, weren't we?
On the night of the event the mates phoned me about 7.30 to tell me they would be up to pick me up in 15 minutes, just time for a quick cup of tea with no milk, two sugar and a gram of speed! Just the way I like it.15 minutes later we were soon making our way to the Ayrshire countryside on journey that should have took us no more than an hour or so, however an hour or so passes and were still driving about in the car with no sign of the event. The odd time on the narrow back roads we would spot coaches travelling in the opposite direction, who would then flash us to ask for directions to the event! It seems it's not just us that's lost! The mates were frantically looking at the directions on the flyer, (watch for the AA signs it tells us!).
By this time the mates are starting to grow concerned but not so much me as I'm already fucked out of my head! Suddenly we approach a small village with a pub, the first we seen in a while, one of the mates goes in to ask if anyone knows where a large rave is taking place? Before to long he reappears with one of the locals who is pointing directly opposite the pub, as we all look we can hardly believe it when we can see the tops of marquees and the lights of the fairground a mile or so in the distance! We quickly set off down the narrow tree lined road in the direction however after a few minutes we turn the corner to be greeted with the old bill blocking the road! SHIT!!!! Quick as a flash I delve into my pocket to retrieve the rest of my stash before quickly swallowing the lot of it as the old bill quickly approach! We wind the window down and the old bill pleasantly direct us to a parking space....oh shit...there's me thinking were about to be busted !
With the time fast approaching 10 we quickly make our way to the entrance which is very muddy due to the rain which is pissing down, no queues which is a bonus, after all this event has been open for a couple of hours, we just assume that most of the other ravers must be inside already. A Quick frisk by the security, no need for me to be para though as I've already necked all my gear! Once passed the security we make our way in, only 2 marquees rather than the 3 stated on the flyer, however only one is open! Inside the marquee there is a crowd of 2 or 3 thousand ravers, the sound is banging and the lasers are in full effect however no sign of most of the attractions on the flyer! What a fucking rip off however it seems no one is that bothered and are making the most of the night!
A few hours pass and we are having a great time especially me as the drugs are in full effect! We already seen a few pa's and DJ's with the highlights so far being NEW ATLANTIC and the DJ BASS GENERATOR who both seemed to go down great with the crowd! However next up is my favourite DJ MARK SMITH and as he kicks off his set the crowd are going for it big time! Not long into his set however there is suddenly this strange humming noise coming from all the three speaker banks to the right of the marquee before the sound suddenly goes off....for a very long time !Now by this time the crowd are starting to grow a little restless and my paranoia along with it! Suddenly the sound comes back with a vengeance....20hz by Capricorn pumps out as the crowd goes fucking mad! The paranoia had kicked in big time and despite there being no trouble whatsoever I kept thinking I could see lots of rucks kicking off in the crowd, despite my mates trying to convince me otherwise I thought it best at this time that I should go out and chill out in the pissing rain for a few hours!
At around 6 I was feeling a lot better and made my way back in the marquee to meet up with my mates, just in time for the evenings last live acts. A surprise pa from Ultrasonic one of Scotland's top up and coming pa's. After this we had had enough and decided to beat the traffic out of the car park, a good night was had by all despite all the missing attractions, pa's and DJ's, however it was hardly worth the 30 quid ticket price.
