Twisted & Brainfire Profile Scottish Hardcore & Harddance promoters by the name of Twisted & Brainfire (T&B) were founded by Al Innes (Al Twisted) and Alan Robertson (Rob Da Rhythm) as an amalgamation of their two respective events "Twisted" and "Brainfire".
The first two Twisted events took place at The Venue in Edinburgh in August 1999 and April 2000. Al Twisted had organized these first two all-nighters at the age of 17 after developing a passion for the Hardcore sound just a little too late, with the scene in Scotland dying out and very few events or clubs left to attend he decided to do something. These events were also held as charity events to raise money for Children in Kosovo in response with the conflict going on at the time. The two parties raised in excess of £5,500 for the charity and featured many top names from both the happier side of the scene such whom donated their services to help a good cause such as Tom Wilson (RIP) and Scott Brown in room1 as well as some of the UK's most respected underground Gabba names like Smurf, The Outcast Clan, Hellfish etc in an equally large room2 called the “Darkside Area”. Room3 was a variety of other styles from Techno through Drum & Bass to Hip Hop.
After such a successful start; Twisted went on promote many other hardcore events including the Monthly "Resistance" parties (co-promoted with David Boon). This was one of the very few and indeed only regular hardcore night running in Scotland at the time (2000-2002) and brought many international Gabba names to the UK for either the first time or the first time in years e.g. Promo + Neophyte (Nl), Nasenbluten (Aus), Randy + Unexist (It), Dr Macabre (Fr), Lenny Dee (USA) and many more.
Brainfire was born in early 2002 with a successful event at The Big Joint, Glasgow which was in actual fact a college project which developed into something bigger. The parties focused on Rob’s main loves – Hardstyle, Trance & Gabba.
In April 2003, T&B held their first joint party at the Vaults, Glasgow called “Twisted vs Brainfire” headlined by Dutch Gabber Dj Catscan and supported by the likes of Marc Smith (Uk hardcore), Bass Generator (oldskool) and Simon Underground (Hardcore techno/Speedcore). Since then Al and Robbie haven’t looked back, soon outgrowing their venue and moving into Archaos (RIP) they have now held over 70 parties at venues likes Arches, Archaos, Barrowlands, Big Joint, Club Clinic, The Soundhaus and even on a beach!

Despite both being fans of the Old Skool Hardcore sound T&B have always chosen to look forward and focus on new music supporting newer styles and artists. T&B has been largely responsible for bringing to popularity in Scotland both the modern version of UK Hardcore sound and also of course the European Gabba Sound, even though this has often meant going against the grain while other promoters have chosen to favor Old Skool.
In 2007 T&B as well as promoting their very popular monthly “Reactor” (UK Hardcore) events, more sporadic “Darkside” (Gabba & Hardcore Techno) parties + the larger multi-roomed “Twisted & Brainfire” Hardcore parties, they have also successfully launched a monthly Hard-dance / Hardstyle party: "Infexious". This shows once again they are leading the way pioneering the European Hardstyle sound with guests such as Lady Dana, Mark EG, Dave The Drummer, Dark By Design all having played in the first nights first couple of months.
