World Dance - 05/02/94 - Review

Oh God!

I’ve just witnessed probably the best rave of ’94 so far. It was 7pm, 5th February and I was getting on the coach for WORLD DANCE. Already totally knackered! I had hardly any sleep the day before because I was so excited.

After a long journey there I thought I had already been in and was on my way home!!! But all that soon changed when in the queue. I heard the music and was already dying to get in, but after about 30 minutes, I was in. It was Pooch on the dex and the first choon I heard was, "M-Beat Shuffle".   Absolutely wicked! The place was jumping and the atmosphere was pumping. By this time I was already claiming World Dance as my best rave.

Me and one of my mates stood right in front of the DJ stand with a totally wicked projection screen beside us. There was also a bloke dressed for the occasion as a jester. (He looked the bollocks). I also noticed the new sound system. WICKED! After being in about half an hour I noticed no lasers, but just at that moment a wicked laser show kicked off.

At about 2am I went into the arcade and wasted some money. When I went back to the hanger I bumped into my cousin and his mates from Walthamstow. I then went on to the very top left of the stage. Everyone up there was very friendly, but it was so packed up I kept getting squashed, I’m only small (you may remember a little blond person on the stage!) but that wasn’t going to stop me having a good time (which I already was). While I was on the stage I noticed the really good dancers on the DJ stand.

After 3 hours raving I went outside to get a drink, and it was then I spotted the bloke on the unicycle and the stilt walking chickens. I went back inside and didn’t move until it was over. I really enjoyed myself. The sound was the nuts, so were the lights. It had a wicked atmosphere. A blinding line up (Kenny Ken was my person favourite) and MC G Q was the bollox. There were snack bars, arcades and a fair ground etc. What more could your ask for? I will definitely be back on the 2nd of April.
