DJ Dave Valentine

Dave began DJ’ing at various underground club nights and warehouse parties in the late 80’s, early 90’s. He went on to meet the band Sunscreem and toured extensively with them throughout the early 90’s. He has played all over the UK, Europe and America. Some of Dave’s most memorable highlights came when he supported New Order and 808 state on tour in the US, playing to stadium crowds of up to 10,000 people, and of course touring with Sunscreem. Closer to home he has worked as a resident DJ at the legendary Totoos at Colchester, Oscars in Clacton as well as playing at Eclipse.

Working with Sunscreem led to Dave’s inevitable involvement in the studio, which has resulted in a string of successful club remixes and co-productions of the band’s material. The most successful being a remake of ‘Love You More’, which remained at number one in the US billboard charts for a month.

Following on from this working, a new partnership was formed with fellow producer Joe Morena. Together they released club singles under the name of SPS (The Self Preservation Society). They went on to complete over twenty remixes for huge artists including Simply Red, Eternal, Inner City, Human League and more.

Meanwhile DJ’ing work poured in with gigs all over Europe, America and South Africa. The highlight of which being a residency for ‘Sundance’, which apart from touring all over Europe to one off events also saw a regular bi-weekly slot in Ibiza, which continued for over five years.

In more recent times remix work has been completed for artists such as Dina Carroll and working with various other co-producers including Phil Kelsey and Oz Morsley of Emperium Fame’. In the future expect to see several new releases from Dave and co, and further remix work including a Dave and Oz reworking of Sunscreem’s ‘Perfect Motion’, which is set to be a huge hit!!!

Dave’s DJ style is a blend of quality House ranging from deep warm grooves through funky cut up filtered disco to tougher more progressive House. His seamless mixing is quality, and the one thing that counts is quality!!!
