MC Ragga

MC Ragga began his career in the old school reggae sound systems days of the early eighties, touring with sound systems like African Hifi, Zion and guesting for many others in the West Midlands and nationally. He progressed from reggae dancehall to acid in the late eighties and early nineties and became one of the early scenes biggest names

The legendary MC Ragga kicked and drove the Stoke-on-Trent Rave Scene from early Introspective untill late Shelleys.

It is excepted by those in the know that Ragga played a pivitol and influential role through out the nineties rave scene and rave culture. MC at Introspective (acid house) Entropy (probably the best club in the worlds) and Shelleys featured on YouTube as well as from time to time at Golden, Sin City, Home and Dry Bar (Manchester), selected venues in Ibiza and many many more clubs, festivals and illegal warehouse raves all over the country MC Ragga, is thought to be one of the first Rave icon. He went on to tour with the Happy Mondays, produce top tunes like 'Squiggy' (top 70 in 93) and 'Dance Drop ya pants', promote nights like Quhwah, De-ja-vu and silent partner Sin City. However, MC Ragga's greatest and most magnificent achievement was in opening the absolutely legendary Dread Head Coffee shop, the centre for post rave- night-out parties and chillout in the Northwest and the Midlands.

Ragga still lives and works in North Staffordshire, where he recently ran for Elected Mayor and made a documentary. He still makes music like his recent release 'Chicken Soup' and still promotes festival, urban music events and has recently completed a Masters degree in performing arts at the University of Manchester. He has published three books and regularly tours with a one man show doing anecdotal talks about stories of the rave scene. In the future Ragga plans to publish his long awaited novel 'MC Rave' and do a national tour to promote the book.
