DJ Scottie - Profile
Well
I first got involved in the "dance" music thing back in 1989 or so
when I was 9 ha ha. I'm being honest here and the tracks I heard at
that time were the big commercial one's like pacific state by 808
state, you got the love etc etc (well I was only 9, I couldn't get
into the rave's:(
Some of my favorite tune's from that time are songs like Orange
Lemon - Dreams of Santa Anna, Richie Rich - Salsa House, Renegade
Soundwave - The Phantom etc.
For me though the scene really kicked off in 91-92 at places like
The Eclipse (I have about 100 tapes from there, shame its been
knocked down like the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes now :( amnesia
house, Fantazia, Raindance, dreamscape etc etc there are loads more
that I could mention. I remember hearing one tune in particular
though in 1991, SL2 - DJ's Take Control and thinking yeah I like
this stuff and I have followed the underground scene through to the
present day in 2006.
The only negative thing about music now is the division that has
been created. There is lots of good "dance" music out here, I just
wish the music wasn't so divided so people could listen to just good
music and not just this style or that style.
I got my dj name "Scottie" because I'm from Fife in Scotland but
have lived in England since 1993.
So being a Scotsman living in England people call me Scottie.

This was also the name given to me by a guy
called Deano who's event I was playing at in Sep 1998 (my first gig)
called Lost Generation in a town called Daventry, near Northampton
where I currently live. Since that day the name has stuck and I have
used Scottie as my name to go on promoter's flyer's
In 2000 I received my first "big" booking at Raindance in London
playing what is now classed as old skool, I had only had my technics
decks for 6 months so I was over the moon. This was really good and
I had loads of my friends there for support as well (thanks folks,
it meant a lot:) Since then I have played again at Raindance and
also a number of big and small event's including God's Kitchen
Global Gathering, Dreamscape, Helter Skelter, Slammin Vinyl, HTID,
Uproar, Jellybeanz, Vibealite and many many more.
I have recording's of my sets from some of these event's which were
also released in the tape packs by various promoter's and video
clips from global gathering. If anyone would like anymore
infromation, mixes, video clips etc please contact me at
scottie_no1@hotmail.com and ill be only too happy to help if I can. |
