DJ Tizer

Back in 1994 and for a few year before and after, every Saturday night hordes of ravers from all over Northern Ireland flocked to the little town of Banbridge.    There goal, to attend Circus Circus.    The resident of one of Northern Irelands biggest clubs was DJ Tizer.

Tizer played toons no-one else would even look at,  and sent the crowd crazy with his scratching.

The following is from an interview with DJ Tizer from 1995:

"I started messing around with decks about three years ago, but I was getting nowhere.  Then last year I 'phoned Graham, the owner of Circus Circus, and asked him if I could try a guest spot in the club.  He agreed, and I've been resident DJ ever since!   I never limit myself as far as style is concerned,  I'll play anything.    All a DJ can do is read the crowd, and give them what they want to hear.  Like I said,  I'' play absolutely anything, from house to hardcore.

"I love the Circus crowd, because they know me, and they just know the crack.  They know what to expect from me, and I know what they want to hear.   I enjoy playing guest spots at other clubs, of course,  but I always like to come home to the Circus.  The atmosphere is out of this world, everybody is friendly and happy.   Now where can touch the place!   Id did enjoy the Fubar, though - that's the way dance music should be played.

"The Scottish scene is really buzzin' at the moment, which is good, because I' really into the Scottish bouncy techno that is so popular here.   I prefer to play that sort of music, and that's what people really associate with my name.  I play house if I feel that it suits the crowd.  House is a lot easier to mix because it's so much slower than techno.   It gets boring, though, because every toon is the same;  it stars and finished with a beat, and has a big break in the middle!

"The Scottish scene is a lot harder than the scene here.  Everyone over there is getting into gabber and breakbeat,  but they're definitely not ahead of us.  A DJ is a DJ,  each has his own style, but we all do the same thing.  Music is changing all the time, which is a good thing, because it creates variety.   Music is changing all the time, which is a good thing, because it creates variety.    I don't like the way everybody is dividing into different groups,  clubbers and ravers and gabbers and all that.    Everybody should stick together and enjoy the music, because it's really all about unity.   That's why I'll play anything in Circus Circus.

"I would like to try remixing, and maybe get a PA going.  As far as I'm concerned, if everybody goes home feeling that they've had a good night then I'm happy too!
