DJ Woody Van Eyden Profile

Over the years, Woody van Eyden released many tracks in many styles using various aliases. Tracks like "Time: Now!", "Get ready" or "Unifinished Symphony" reached international sales and dance charts. His studio ability has made him a very demanded remixer/producer over the years, remixing/producing for artists like ATB, Talla 2XLC, Alex M.O.R.P.H., Andy Moor, JamX & deLeon, and much more. His productions are released on labels like Fenology Records, Armada, Ministry of Sound, Kontor, Ultra US or ATCR to name a few.

Woody“s skills in productions get major support by Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, ATB, Matt Darey, John 00 Fleming, Rank 1, Dumonde, Adam White etc.

At the moment Woody and Alex M.O.R.P.H. are in their studios, working on a lot of co-ops and productions together as they will release different tracks as a team/B2B soon on different labels (Anjunabeats, Gesture Music, Lost Language, Fenology Records, MonsterTunes,...)

How did you first get into the scene?
At the age of 12-13 I was the one who didn't like to be on a dancefloor, but behind the table changing the tapes at our garage partys. At this early age I started to imitate wordings of radio jocks, as at this time a good DJ played music and MC'd at the same time.

What was the first record you ever bought?
It was "Show me the Way" by Peter Frampton in 1976

How would you describe your music?
It depends on where I play. It can be tougher, trancier or electroid, but it's always energetic and driving.

What other artists do you rate?
All artists that have made themselves a trademark into our scene and that are known for that what they are, what they produce, what they sound like or what makes them special in their own individual way reserve respect. In these days, where people can copy everything over the internet (music, videos, photos, etc), it's very important to be individual, because then the artist as a person can only be experienced live, and not on your iPod.

How do the Scottish people compare to people in other countries you have played?
I honestly must say, that without a doubt, the Scottish people are the maddest and most energetic nutters, and I really enjoy playing in your country.

What else can we expect from Woody van Eyden in the future?
Of course I will continue my B2B partnership with Alex M.O.R.P.H., some co-ops (e.g. with Solarstone, Teamo, Crx, etc.) and remixes, and I'm planning to produce an own artist album by the end of 2008 as well.

How healthy would you say the scene is in the UKEurope..?
Especially the UK has a very healthy club culture. There are other countries with a good scene, others are growing at the moment, and others have to learn some lessons ;-)
But in general, it's quite good and healthy!

What's the maddest thing you have ever done after a gig?
There was a resident DJ in a German club I've played years ago, he was a real mofo and pushed my buttons really hard. Man, I tell you I was so pissed about him (and not only me)...
After my set he was back on the decks. Apparently in this club it's a habit that guest DJs give out signed vinyls of his own releases - so behind his back I took dozens (!!) of his records, signed them and gave them out to my fans. They were so happy, and the resident DJ must have been totally shocked with half an empty record box, HAHA...

What's your studio setup?
I just built a completely new studio environment, in which I use my good old Powermac G5 with Logic, a lot of software based instruments, effects and samples. I also use some hardware gear like Roland JP-8000+8080, Access Virus, Technics WSA1R,etc and 2x Yamaha 02R digital mixers. So I guess it's a great mixture of software and hardware gear.

Do you have a particular favourite party you've played at be it in UK/Europe?
Our Gatecrasher Ibiza 2007 gigs were the bomb

Any you would rather forget?
happily this year none, but tons in the past

Where will Woody van Eyden be in 10 years time?
Ask me again in 9 1/2 years, but for sure around.

In four words describe yourself
Energetic, mad, workaholic, passionate

Last question ..
what can we expect from yourself at Fantasylands ? Any surprises planned ?
A great mixture of the worlds biggest anthems with a huge portion of the van Eyden's madness
