Showcasing a host of different brands and club nights, each arena will provide something to keep all of the clubbing fraternity happy. Set in the unique venue of The Royal Highland Centre & Showground, which played host to Tiesto’s Elements of Life Tour in June 2007, Edinburgh is set to be well and truly awoken by the sounds of the best old and new dance music around.
The main arena will be run by hardcore event legends Fantazia. Following on from the success of events held at Braehead Arena over the past few years, this arena will be blasting out the sounds of live acts including Public Domain (Operation Blade), Shades of Rhythm (Sound of Eden), Ultrasonic (Obsession) and Rozalla (Everybody’s Free) and DJ’s including Lenny Dee, Dye Witness, Bass Generator and Hixxy. Expect the neon clothes to be out in force as nearly 7,500 people pack into the huge hall showcasing the best in old school talent from across the globe.
When talking about the rise of trance music, it is impossible not to mention Gatecrasher. Whether it be the huge Gatecrasher 1 in Sheffield, the weekly night in Ibiza or the countless CD’s, Gatecrasher is one of the biggest trance forces in the world. With Gatecrasher Immortal hitting the shelves this month, arena 2 will be taken over by the club giants and with DJ’s such as Tall Paul, Agnelli & Nelson and Scott Bond taking to the decks, you can be sure that your dancing shoes will be put well and truly through their paces. The arena will include full Gatecrasher décor and dancers, to ensure you get the full Gatecrasher experience.
Arena 3 will be hosted by Edinburgh based hard dance night Nuklear Puppy. Having built its reputation around a solid resident DJ team, Nuklear Puppy delivers one of the highest standard hard dance nights in Scotland. The princess of hard dance and former Mixmag future hero Amber D will bring a touch of glamour to the wheels of steel as she spins out her trademark crowd pleasing tunes. Vinylgroover and Lee Haslam are also scheduled to appear alongside Nuklear Puppy residents Jason Cortez and Phil York.
Another Edinburgh based night, Luvely, will be hosting arena 4 and this one is sure to be funky and fresh. With its gay friendly policy and themed nights every month, the atmosphere is always a happy one as clubbers enjoy sets from residents Tommy Kay, Dean Newton, Grum Stone and Jared. Having recently celebrated its 11th birthday, all the Luvely residents will move from their home of The Liquid Rooms to their very own arena at Fantasy Lands. Be sure to have the glamorous outfits looked out if you intend to dance to the freshest house music in this arena at any point.
For those people lucky enough to get a VIP ticket, they are certainly in for a treat as house music institution Hed Kandi will be providing the funkiest house music mixed with all time classics. Always a firm favourite with Arches regulars, Andy Norman and Paul Wilkins will be behind the decks once again to play the delectable mix of soulful beats laced with acapellas. One of the most talked about musicians of the moment will be accompanying each of the Kandi DJ’s. The Lovely Laura on Sax is not only one of the best saxophonists around but responsible for keeping the party atmosphere going as she belts out over the funky house beats, providing the ultimate musical experience. Colours residents Jon Mancini and Iain ‘Boney Clark will also add to the already bumper line up of house DJ’s in the Hed Kandi VIP arena.
